It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see – Henry David Thoreau
I’ve spent the last couple days helping my son move his belongings. He is coming home for a bit until the next adventure in his life begins this fall. This photo was taken when I went on one of our many adventures together to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. on this particular day, Kyle spotted this butterfly on the flower and I was lucky enough to get a good shot.
This happens to be one of my very favourite photos. I probably say that a lot, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward – Khalil Gibran
For 14 years, my son and I have visited The Royal Botanical Gardens, or RBG, in Burlington, Ontario. We first went when he was homeschooled and we chose RBG as our science field trip destination. The RBG has an amazing collection of lilacs and visiting in May each year became our goal. Yet, life tends to get in the way, and this year, for example, it was September before we made it there. Each season has its appeal at the Gardens and we were certainly glad to see the sculptures throughout the gardens by Zimbabwe artists.
The sculpture below was one of our favourites and my son said it reminded him of his sister. I thought so too as it looked joyful and it is called Nature’s Child.
