I recently took a four-day trip to one of my favourite places: Ottawa. I don’t know what it is about this city, but I really find it wonderful. I love Canadian history, so that probably helps. One adventure took me to see the changing of the guard, both at a war memorial near Parliament Hill and then at the Hill itself. I was there with about 15000 others, so I never got really close, but there is no a bad view, really.

My little point and shoot and I are working on composition and I’m pleased with how things are progressing!

  1. Ottawa is one of my favourite places too. For me it’s the idea of being in a big city that feels like a small town and the fact that it has been designed to be friendly to pedestrians, runners, cyclists – or any other form of physical activity you can imagine engaging in – while enjoying the beautiful views along the canals.

All that is true. As well, I have done two half marathon (walks) there and the community is so supportive. Last year, it was pouring rain and the community still was out in full force. It was amazing.

I like the grey rectangular smudge beneath the feet of the guards in the top picture – its as if it maps out where they do their little bit of marching during the change.
